[new Zambezi delight unveiled]

The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa in Zambia has completed an extensive refurbishment, introducing brighter, more spacious interiors, upgraded facilities and new adventure offerings — including an early-morning Zambezi breakfast expedition.

The design overhaul strikes a balance between modern comfort and traditional African aesthetics, preserving the lodge’s signature hand-carved wooden features while introducing functional upgrades.

Guest rooms now feature smart TVs, USB and USB-C charging points on either side of the bed, energy-efficient air-conditioning and modernised bathrooms with improved lighting, sleek basins and motion-sensor night lights. Non-intrusive mosquito nets and screen doors allow uninterrupted Zambezi views from every balcony while keeping bugs and curious monkeys at bay.

Dining spaces, gardens and the bar have been re imagined with upgraded seating, improved lighting and guest-friendly layouts.

River cruises

The lodge’s Lady Livingstone river cruises have expanded their repertoire with the introduction of Livingstone’s first-ever Sunday breakfast cruise — an early-morning voyage pairing Zambezi tranquillity with continental and English breakfast, bottomless mimosas and coffee.

The lodge says that while sunset cruises will always be magical, there is something truly special about mornings on a still Zambezi, when elephants wake up and the river stirs to life.

Special themed cruises — from Jazz on the Zambezi to wine-pairing evenings — keep the offering fresh, while a new gelato bar on sunset sailings adds a sweet touch to summer days.

Coming soon, the dinner cruise will blend fine dining, wine pairings and live string quartet performances under the African night sky.

Spa & wellness

The spa has been modernised and expanded to feature rain showers, steam rooms and hydro baths, complemented by an exclusive local organic product range.

Conservation

Beyond wellness, the lodge has deepened its ties to the surrounding community and to conservation projects, with experiences such as guided Mukuni Village tours, walk-with-rhino encounters, live performances from local artists, and new guidebooks for the Lady Livingstone cruises.

A hippo pond has also been created beside the conference area for the property’s resident hippo.

Landscaping now features indigenous plants and new seating areas — with no trees removed during the renovation.

Connection

The lodge is also testing a ‘Zambezi Life’ package — a curated combination of river adventures, cultural immersion and dining experiences designed for travellers seeking meaningful connection with the destination.
